Unveiling the art of interior transformation
Beautiful furniture will always be beautiful furniture because it has amazing lines. Just because something looks out of date does not mean that you need to throw it out. Take these two chairs (see below) for example that were bought by my client’s father-in-law. She and her husband held on to it because it had sentimental value. We can all agree the fabric choice, which may have been typical years ago, was not modern by today’s standard. They were on the fence - get rid of it or hold on to it. Admittedly, I did all that I could to convince them to salvage it. One look at the chairs and I knew there was potential just waiting to be discovered. So I convinced my client to allow me to transform the chairs into something modern to fit into her current style of home. We decided on a teal velvet that had a high composition of viscose which gave it shimmer and a luxurious look. To contrast with this color, the frames were spray-painted white lacquer. The new fabric and frame color allowed the beautiful lines of the chair to pop and look exquisite. These chairs went from being a Goodwill donation to fun conversational pieces. They also ended up having a bespoke quality that no one else could replicate, making their space unique while merging the old and new.
