Unveiling the art of interior transformation

Why You Should Invest In Your Bedroom

Bedrooms are often not designed first in a home for many reasons – they are usually upstairs, tucked away, behind closed doors, not seen by guests, and thought as primarily functional. In reality, your bedroom should be one of the first rooms you should consider designing and here’s why.

A bedroom is multi functional. It’s the place to rest (sleep, read, watch TV), recover (where you go and feel comforted when sick), start & end your day, and of course… for romance (hello, Valentine’s day!). The trend for homeowners is to re-design and/or expand the functionality of their bedroom to include a lounge/sitting area, access to a patio, add a built-in bar (coffee, tea, drinks), and utilize for an office/desk. It makes sense to invest in your bedroom when 1/3 of your life is spent sleeping. According to different data outlets, we spend between 33-36 years in bed (24 years sleeping and the rest watching tv, relaxing, etc.. based on an average life expectancy of 80 years). That’s way more time than what is spent in our family rooms and kitchens. So, although your guests may be privy to the main parts of the house where entertaining takes place, think about the room where YOU spend most of your time/life. If you walk into your bedroom and it’s not everything you “dreamed” it should be (beautiful, amazing, functional, calm, and/or organized), it might be time to call a designer to help re-design or renovate!
